Many of our studies address the mechanisms by which calcium signaling pathways regulate the function of transcription factors in neurons. Shown above, the calcium-selective transcription factor CaRF (red) is found in the nucleus (blue) of hippocampal neurons (stained green for the marker protein MAP2) but is not detected in glial cells.
